Remembering a Loved Life

“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” Psalms 84:10

Myrna Dale McEwen’s born February 14, 1950, was the third of six lovely girls born to the union of her loving parents, Thomas “TJ” J. McEwen and Vette Stubblefield McEwen.  Myrna was once again greeted to a new way of life by her parents,  grandparents, Mark Hannah and Georgia Mae Stubblefield, aunts Dosha Stubblefield Hamilton, Mahalia Stubblefield Hamilton, uncle, Charles Hamilton and great-nephew, DeShawn Cook.

Myrna was an active and devoted member of Ware Memorial Church of God In Christ International for over 50 years where she had served on the Mother’s Board, as an usher, and as president of the Young People’s Willing Workers (YPWW).  Myrna even helped her grandmother in the cafeteria.  Her talent of ushering was even extended to the Union Ushers.  Her zeal for loving the Lord rendered her many appointments to many boards.

Myrna was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, attended Draughon’s Business College and worked 42 years at Lourdes Hospital where she started out as a nurse’s aide and later became a secretary.  She dearly loved her job.  She was active in the community, serving as a volunteer at the quilt museum, working with public voting in absentee ballots and a RSVP at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.

Myrna spent time crocheting, playing suduko, and watching both old western movies and old black and white movies.  She really loved singing, especially gospel songs including “In the Presence of the King by Donald Lawrence and Bishop G.E. Patterson and “Life is Like a Mountain Railroad”.  One of her very favorites was “I Trust In God” which was the last song she sang in church. Myrna was a “Royal Child” adopted into the “Royal Family”.

Myrna leaves to cherish her legacy of love for family: Five Sisters, Linda A. McEwen, Cassandra D. McEwen, Gail L. McEwen, Evette M. King, and Julie McEwen, all of Paducah, KY; One who was raised as a Brother, Timothy J. McEwen of Atlanta, GA; One Uncle, Mark H. (Ghisaline) Stubblefield of Paducah, KY; Several Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Myrna truly loved God, her church, her family and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
