Betty June Darnell Smith, 92, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Superior Care Home. She was born in Christopher, Illinois. Betty worked at Austin Drug Store as a waitress and retired from S.S. Kresge where she worked in the food service department. She was a faithful member of Victory Assembly Worship Center. Betty enjoyed quilting, cross-stitching and embroidering. She liked to cook and bake and will be remembered for her delicious Divinity and Potato Candy.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Brenda Smith Wooley and husband, Charles of Paducah, Kentucky and Sondra Smith Pax and husband, John of Lake City, Florida; daughter-in-law, Joette Smith of Sharpe, Kentucky; sister, Jean Feare of La Porte, Indiana; sister-in-law, Chris Darnell of Welcome, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo H. Smith; sons, Gary Smith and Jerry Smith; sisters, Dorothy Todd, Gerri Bolen, Eva Rhine and Madeline Darnell; brothers, Bill Darnell and Glen Darnell. Her parents were Dallas Nolan Darnell and Myrtle Jones Darnell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2019 at Victory Assembly Worship Center with Rev. Gary DeRossett officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
