William Owens Sr

Funeral services for William Herbert "Herb" Owens Sr., 85, of Paducah will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Harold Council officiating.

Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery of Paducah.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Owens passed away at 3:55 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Mr. Owens was former owner and operator of Herb's Sunoco Service Station of Paducah and was a retired farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He attended Southland Baptist Temple.

He is survived by two sons, Bud Owens and wife Therese Tlapek of Nashville and Bob Owens and wife Paula of Dallas; one daughter, Brenda Clemans and husband Vernon of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Thelma Isbell and Gladys Walsh, both of Paducah; six grandchildren, Jennifer Stanley, David Clemans, Billy Owens, Kim Owens, Anna Owens, and Joseph Owens; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Clemans, Kaylee Stanley and Jake Clemans; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jacobs Owens; his son, John Richard Owens; two sisters, Hilda and Nona Sue; one brother, Howard; and his parents, Samuel M. Owens and Prillie Cox Owens.
