Virginia Stacey

June 5, 1927 — February 21, 2016

Virginia Ruth (McClain) Stacey, 88, of Paducah passed away at 12:30 am on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Baptist Health in Paducah. Born June 5, 1927, her parents were Wattye and Stanford McClain.

She and her husband Coy owned and operated Stacey's Restaurant in Paducah for many years following the passing of the restaurant's founders, Coy Sr. and Bertha Stacey. Virginia and Coy owned Draughon's Business College , Little Castle, Twinkling Star and several other Paducah restaurants over the years. They were also General Partners and managers of Bluegrass Downs.

The couple shared a lifelong affinity for horseracing, especially thoroughbreds, and owned several race horses over the years. They traveled extensively throughout the country following their horses.

She was fondly known as "Duckie" by her loving family and friends.

One of Duckie's favorite pastimes was making her famous chocolate chip cookies for her family and friends including Mike Shannon, Jack Buck, Red Schoendiest and Roger Maris of the St. Louis Cardinal organization.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Charles (Spike) Stacey and wife Marcia and Richard (Dick) Stacey and wife Lydia, all of Paducah; sister Rudell Blalock of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Chris Stacey of Nashville, TN and Dylan Stacey of Lexington, KY and Stephanie Stacey of Paducah; great-granddaughter Hayden Pierce of Paducah; brothers in law Edward (Bub) Stacey of Pensacola Beach, FL and James Stacey and wife Marla of Austin, TX; nieces Mary Ann Lawson and husband Rick of Nashville and Lee Stacey and wife Stephanie of Savannah, GA, nephews Dr. Stan Blalock of Clarksville, TN and Victor Stacey and wife Anastasia of Temecula, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents , her husband, brother in law Dr. William Blalock, sister in law Barbara Stacey and nephew Scott Stacey.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:45 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah; graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Maplelawn Cemetery in Paducah with Rev. Steve Shauf officiating.
