Roberta Parks

October 4, 1921 — July 23, 2011

Roberta McDowell Parks, 89, of Paducah passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 2:15 a.m. at Superior Care Home.

Mrs. Parks was born October 6, 1921, in Crittenden County. She was a retired bookkeeper with National Life Insurance Company and was a member of Margaret Hanks Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her sister, Ernestine McDowell Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Davis Sears of Houston, Kathy Davis West of Paducah, Harriet Davis Oexmann of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kay Staples Myers of Evansville, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles "Sparky" Parks; her sisters, Margaret McDowell Davis, Christina McDowell Myers and Georgie McDowell Ford; her brothers, Douglas McDowell, Rodolph McDowell, Iley McDowell and Edwin McDowell. Her parents were Iley Ray and Lena Newcom McDowell.

Special thanks for her care to Dr. Kenneth Cook, Dr. Richard Smith and Dianne Cherry, APRN; as well as all the loving and caring staff at Superior Care Home. Many thanks to her beloved church family at Margaret Hanks Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church as well.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Roth Funeral Chapel with Bro. Chris Fleming officiating. Burial will be at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Roth Funeral Chapel.
