Owen Davis Heady

Owen Davis Heady (OD) was born to the union of Bud Heady and Angie Merriweather Heady in Bandana, Kentucky on January 4, 1926.

OD Heady was a lifelong resident of West Paducah, Kentucky. He was employed with Florsheim Shoe Company for 24 years. At the age of 14, Mr. Heady united with Little Union Baptist Church, Bandana, Kentucky.  Mr. Heady had a passion for gardening and working in the tobacco field with his dear friend, Garth Tilford. Mr. Heady was the original Uber and  DoorDash driver for numerous people in the community.

When visiting, Mr. Heady was known for not sitting or staying too long. He would just simply get up and leave, so we are keeping his funeral short and sweet.  We would not want our DAD to leave his own funeral.

In his later years Mr. Heady also enjoyed spending time at the West Paducah Rest Haven for retirees. This is where several people met in his yard discussing and talking about life stories.

Preceding Mr. Heady in death was his wife of 46 years, Ruth Titsworth Heady; 2 daughters, Brenda Boyd and Gayle Waldon; and one grandson Aaron Waldon; 2 brothers, John C. and Nathaniel Heady, 1 sister, Perlene Heady Davidson.

Mr. Heady leaves to cherish his memories: 2 sons, Rev. Benny (Ida) Heady and Phillip Heady;8 grandchildren, Tawonna (Byron) Powell, Bernard (Stacey) Boyd, Jermaine (Monica) Boyd, Wesley Brooks, LaToya Boyd, Malika (Mike) Womack, Benny (Verlina) Heady, Jr., and Angie Heady,14 great grandchildren, LeDante Powell, Teran (Velvet) Powell, Aailyah Powell, Tamiya (Jadarain) Jackson, Shaniya Boyd, Samad Jackson, Sarenati (Alex) Wair, Ayanna Boyd, Breonna Boyd, Cameron Boyd, Peyton Boyd, Jermaine Boyd, Jr., Bree Heady and Vincent Heady, 6 great-great grandchildren,  Tenaysia Powell, Jeremiah Powell, Taylor Powell, Teran Powell, Jr., Janiyah Jackson, and Jaydah Jackson, son-in-law, Auther Lee (Sherona) Waldon and one brother-in-law, Otis Titsworth and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, April 3, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home with Reverend Benny Heady officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
