Mary Smith

February 9, 1927 — October 21, 2015

Mary Lou Smith, 88, of Ashland City, TN, passed away at 5:21 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21,
2015 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Ashland City, TN.
She attended West End Baptist Church where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union,
teaching preschool, Sunday school and serving in the nursery for many years. She dedicated her
life to loving and teaching children in the church. She also retired from Lourdes Hospital where she
was a nursing assistant.
Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Mary Jo Smith of Ashland City, TN; one son, Joe Edd Smith
and wife Linda of Stone Mountain, GA; one brother, Rev. James Alfred Cage of Evansville, IN; five
grandchildren, David Hobbs and wife Trisha, Kristopher Smith, Lori Vrbsky and Husband Gary,
Jonathon Hobbs and wife Jenette, Susan Smith; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Joe Smith Jr.; one daughter, Martha Jane Waltmon; one
sister, and three brothers. Her parents were Henry Edward Cage and Mollie Jo Curtis Cage.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Maplelawn Park
Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Sills officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Milner &
Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
