Martha Jones

August 2, 1932 — January 11, 2015

She was born to Edd and Lorena Gardner at home on North 22nd Street on August 2nd, 1932 in
Paducah, Kentucky.
Martha was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She especially enjoyed being
with her family during holiday gatherings and was renowned by those closest to her for her jam
cake and Christmas float. Like her mother, Martha excelled in cooking for family celebrations and
Sunday afternoon dinners.
Prior to her unfortunate stroke, she was very active, enjoying exercise classes, square dancing,
participation in her church choir with her husband Charles, and playing cards with friends. She
loved life and was known for a quick wit that was not diminished by her stroke. She continually
entertained her friends and the staff who lovingly cared for her at Superior Care Nursing Home for
8 years following her stroke. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mrs Helen Sims and
the staff of Superior Care Nursing Home for their excellent care of Martha.
Martha attended Reidland High School, graduating in 1950. She also attended Draughn's Business
College and worked for 23 years at Western Baptist Hospital, retiring in September 1994.
Following her retirement, Martha and her husband Charles worked diligently for 12 years at
Martha's Vineyard to deliver meals to the homebound. She also liked to sneak treats to her
customers' pets.
In addition to her loving and caring husband Charles, Martha's survivors include her son Curtis
(Carla) Vinson of Poughkeepsie, NY; son Allen (Janean) Tinsley of Gage, KY; daughter Leah (Jim)
Millizer of Murray, Ky: daughter Michelle (Bobby) Loueallen of Williford, Ark; daughter Lecia
Tinsley of Paducah, KY; step son Gary (Dotty) Jones of Metropolis, Ill; step daughter Terry (Melvin)
Kerr; and stepdaughter Gina Gonzales of Florida; Martha's sister, Ellen (Gary) Hamilton of
Louisville; sister Carol (Bill) Baugh of Paducah. Martha is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 2
great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was pre-deceased by her mother and father, her grandson Sean Allen Millizer, her sister
Doris who died in childhood, her brother Edd Gardner, Jr; and her sister Sue Nell Sullivan.
