Obituary for Kathy Lee Jewell
Kathy Neihoff Jewell, age 60, of Kevil, KY, passed away at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Kathy was a member of Heartland Worship Center and was a 20 year employee of Wal-Mart on Hinkleville Road. She loved the interaction with her fellow employees and customers. She had been unable to work for a year while she was battling cancer and maintained her positive attitude until the very end. She fought hard to overcome her obstacles. One of her last joys was being able to participate in Relay for Life on May 13th and walking the survivor lap with her cousin and his wife as fellow survivors. She found out that day that her doctors were going to try a new treatment for her and she could not contain her excitement. Donations can still be made in her honor, under her team of Heartland Worship Center. Kathy enjoyed going to music concerts, watching UK basketball, Dallas Cowboy football, NASCAR races and taking trips with her sister. When her nephews were young, she loved watching their baseball games and marching band concerts. She was able to see her first UK basketball game at Rupp Arena in January and traveled to Denver to visit her cousin last fall. Kathy had a big heart and enjoyed helping others whenever she could.
Kathy is survived by her sister, Carrie Childers and husband James of Paducah, KY; two nephews, Kristin Childers and Kyle Childers; significant other, John Tomlinson of Kevil, KY; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Jewell. Her parents were Eddie and Betty Carroll Neihoff; grandparents, Harvey Stanley Carroll & Mary Kathryn Thomis Carroll and Edward Aloyisus Neihoff & Lettie Matheny Neihoff.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Nathan Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
