SYMSONIA - James S. Tinsley, 84, of Symsonia, Ky., passed away at 1:45 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis, Ill.
James was a native of Graves County, Ky. He was a retired conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad. James attended Clarks River Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris M. Hays Tinsley; daughter, Teresa R. Ballew of St. Louis, Mo.; sons, Stanford F. Tinsley and wife Patty of Jackson, Tenn., and Bradford E. Tinsley and wife Cheryl of Corbin, Ky.; brother, John Tinsley and wife Willadean of Symsonia, Ky; he was papaw to his grandchildren, James McCrady, Adam Ballew, Sarah (Tim) Houston, Anna Marie (Bill) Smith, Ellis Ballew, Rebecca (Kevin) Tinsley, Robert Tinsley, Jeffery Tinsley; and papaw to his six great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, E.T. (Elaine) Hays, John R. Hays and Joe Hattings; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Terrell, Elizabeth Hattings and Ann Hopper; and one brother, Robert Tinsley.
His parents were Robert G. Tinsley and Anna Irene Mitchell Tinsley.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Bruce Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
